Sx3 awarded £5m housing software contract

Northern Ireland-based IT services company Sx3 has won a £5 million contract to provide a housing management software solution to 80,000 properties by Birmingham City Council.

The deal is part of the council's £10 million Housing Information Technology Solution (HITS) project to drive devolution and enable focus to be placed squarely upon the neighbourhood.

Birmingham City Council will adopt Sx3's complete iWorld integrated FIRST housing solution, with a range of additional options including choice-based lettings, self-service transactions, and iWorkflow.

This will provide the council with an integrated online information system, enabling it to offer more choice and a faster service to its customers.

Commenting upon the contract, David Thompson, director of housing, Birmingham City Council, said: "This project and the broader HITS project at Birmingham City Council, represents a major shift in focus for us, towards local service delivery and devolution of support to the neighbourhood level.

"With 80,000 properties to manage, it is vital that information can be exchanged at the neighbourhood level instantaneously. This is the only way to enhance services and build neighbourhoods."

Noel Brady, Managing Director, Sx3 Ireland, added: "This is a tremendous endorsement for Sx3's Applications division and further strengthens our position in the Great British housing software market. Not only are we working with the largest single public landlord in Britain, but more importantly we are helping Birmingham lead the way in its plans to reinvigorate local communities through local service provision."

The new contract will be serviced through Sx3's Applications Solutions division in Manchester.

Already working for 90 social housing providers in the UK and worldwide, Sx3 has also recently been awarded major contracts with Gateshead Council and Camden Council.
