Armed Robbery In Belfast

Police in Belfast are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in the vicinity of the Belfast Institute at Tower Street.

At around 9.45pm a man and woman outside the college were approached by a man armed with a knife. He demanded money of the man and then grabbed the woman's handbag before pushing her to the ground.

Both were uninjured but shocked by their ordeal.

The man is described as being in his early twenties, 5' 8" and of slim build wearing a black jacket with red or orange trim.

Anyone in the area who noticed suspicious activity are asked to call Police in Strand Town on 0845 600 8000 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.

Off licence robbed in south Belfast
A man armed with a handgun has robbed an off-licence in the University Road area of south Belfast. Shortly after 7pm, a man entered the premises and produced a handgun and demanded money from the till. The man made off with an undisclosed sum of money.

Man Arrested Over Armed Robbery In West Belfast
A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in west Belfast. The robbery happened at a shop on Caffrey Avenue at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 27 February. The suspect threatened a member of staff and made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes. He was arrested on Wednesday, 28 February, and has been detained in police custody.

Man Attacks Staff Member During Armed Robbery In South Belfast
Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in south Belfast. The incident happened at a fast food restaurant in the Botanic Avenue area in the early hours of Tuesday morning. A man hit a female member of staff with a hammer before making off with a sum of money and another staff member's mobile phone.
