Wright inquiry to proceed
Following a judgement in the High Court today the Billy Wright inquiry is to go ahead.
The inquiry was originally set up under the Prisons Act, but NI Home Secretary Peter Hain had changed this to the Inquiries Act.
The then Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Paul Murphy set up the inquiry amid allegations of security force collusion in the murder of the 37-year-old Portadown loyalist paramilitary by three INLA inmates inside the Maze Prison in 1997.
Last month a court ruling found that Mr Hain had acted unlawfully, however, David Wright has waived his right to seek a quashing of the order.
