Two released after Ballymena drugs seizure

Two men who were arrested following the discovery of a quantity of drugs in County Antrim yesterday, have been released pending reports.

The pair were arrested yesterday following a planned search operation carried out by police at a number of properties in the Ballymena area.

During the raids, police discovered a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of £16,000 at a property in the Doury Road area of the town.

A spokesperson for the PSNI today described the seizure as “significant.”

Meanwhile, a man has been charged with possession of a class C drug, possession of a class C drug with intent to supply and motoring offences, after police stopped him in the St James' Park area of west Belfast yesterday afternoon.

He is expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on March 21.

A man is being treated in hospital after being attacked in Cave Hill Country Park in north Belfast. Police said that at about 8:40pm on Monday they received a report that a man had been attacked by men armed with hammers. Appeal For Information On Serious Assault In South Belfast
