Murder inquiry appeal for car

Police are appealing for information on the movements of a car in relation to their inquiries into the murders of two men in Belfast on March 12.

Detectives want to talk to anyone who saw a silver Skoda, registration number PKZ 3760, in north or west Belfast late on Sunday afternoon. A police spokesperson said that a number of men were believed to have been travelling in the car.

The body of Edward Burns, 36, from Poleglass was discovered in the car park of St Gall's GAA club, off the Falls Road on Monday. He had been shot in the head. The badly beaten body of Joe Jones, 38, from Ardoyne was found near Elmfield Street in north Belfast. He had suffered severe head injuries.

It is thought that the killings are a result of a feud in a dissident republican faction, possibly the Continuity IRA.

A shotgun and a handgun recovered in Belfast yesterday not far from the scene are to be examined by forensic specialists.
