Man charged over Derry assault

A 26-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a 39-year-old man sustained serious head and facial injuries during an attack in Portstewart.

The victim was attacked near the Diamond in the centre of the seaside town at around 9pm on Saturday.

The man is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court today on charges connected with the attack.
