Suspicious device found at Sinn Fein member's home

A Sinn Fein councillor and his family have been evacuated from their home in County Tyrone after a suspicious device was found.

Army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion after the device was discovered outside Ivan Barr's home in the Bridge Street area of Strabane at 8.30pm last night.

The object was later declared to be a hoax.

The bomb scare was the fourth alert in Tyrone in the past five days. A bomb had been placed outside the home of DPP member Mary McCrea on Wednesday in Sion Mills and on Sunday, a device was found in another nearby home.
