Telemarketing company starts up in Claudy

A telemarketing and data management company has been set up in Claudy with the help of the Growth Start Programme run by Invest Northern Ireland.

The potential to create a growth business by providing direct marketing services has been recognised by a local businessman who has set up a telemarketing and data management company in Claudy, with the help of Invest Northern Ireland’s Growth Start Programme.

The company, JMT Direct, is one of 33 new businesses set up in a six-month period under the Growth Start programme, which supports export focussed businesses.

JMT Direct provides marketing services such as direct mail and telemarketing, and data management services such as response handling and e-commerce for customers in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.

Graham Davis, Director of Local Economic Development in Invest NI, said that supporting the establishment of export focused businesses like JMT Direct, was a key objective for the agency.

“Increasing the level of exports is vital to our economy and a key part of Invest NI’s strategy. Through the Growth Start programme we have committed over £1 million, and helped to lever over £2.6 million from the private sector to support new businesses," he said.

“This new business will create jobs and develop skills in an area of designated need, and being export focused, will contribute to the strength of the local economy.”

JMT Direct has been set up by Joseph Thompson, a specialist in the area of direct marketing, who added: “I worked for many years in this sector in England and since returning to Northern Ireland have been keen to establish a business in this area. This kind of business can be conducted from any location and so offers great potential to create jobs in rural areas such as Claudy.

“Telemarketing is one of the most effective ways of generating sales leads, creating appointments, recruiting, dealing with customer service and carrying out market research. Our business will offer a custom-made, flexible telemarketing service designed to meet the customer’s services. This is a business sector in which substantial growth is expected and we are confident that we will be able to expand our customer base in the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.”
