Man dies following Dublin attack

A man who was assaulted during the hijacking of his vehicle near Dublin Airport has died.

The 28-year-old, who was from Eastern Europe, suffered serious injuries when he was dragged from his car by a gang in the Swords area last night.

He was in a car parked in a lay-by at Forest Road when the incident took place.

A woman who was in the car at the time was unhurt.

Irish police said they believed some kind of weapon was used, as the attack was so severe.

The Naul Road, from the Cloghran roundabout to the Forrest Road junction, has been closed to traffic for technical examination.

A post mortem examination is also expected to be carried out.
