Beam Vacuum Systems celebrates 30 years of success

A commitment to enterprise and innovation has enabled local company Beam Vacuum Systems Ltd to achieve a market leading position in central vacuum technology in UK and Ireland, Leslie Morrison, Invest Northern Ireland Chief Executive, said today.

Mr Morrison was speaking during a visit to the company which has just celebrated the 30th anniversary of its formation by Pat Keenan, the Managing Director. Beam specialises in the design and installation of central vacuum systems for residential, commercial, and industrial and applications.

Among recent installations completed by the company, based at Magherafelt, is an extensive innovative vacuum-shredding and central cleaning system for a large financial institution in Dublin that ensures the secure disposal of sensitive documents.

Mr Morrison, commenting on the company’s achievements over three decades, said: “Beam Vacuum Systems has prospered through adding significant value to its initial business as a distributor of central vacuum systems. It has achieved this by coming up with innovative and bespoke vacuum solutions that meet the requirements of individual customers in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

“The installation of the VacuShred system demonstrates how the company has adapted central vacuum technology to satisfy a client’s specific requirements. The security enhancement is an important issue today because of the prevalence of identity theft. In addition, this is an efficient cleaning system that has been clinically proven to provide a healthier indoor environment.

“As a result of this customer-led innovation, Beam Vacuum Systems is now recognised by Beam USA as the number-one international distributor and the market leader in Ireland,” he added.

MD, Mr Pat Keenan said: “Over the years we’ve developed an unrivalled experience of how best to apply vacuum technology and have used it successfully on a broad range of projects in homes, offices and factories. This provides a healthier environment that eliminates airborne allergens and enables companies to comply with health and safety legislation.

“We’ve also achieved this by continuous investment in our products, processes and, above all, in the skills and capabilities of our people. This approach enables us to respond quickly and effectively to the requirements of all types of customers, thereby creating our competitive edge.

“We’ve benefited immensely from advice and practical support provided by Invest NI to help us develop our business,” he added.

Beam Vacuum Systems currently employs over 35 people at Magherafelt in the development of bespoke central vacuum cleaning, dust and fume extraction, and document shredding systems to customers throughout Ireland.

The company has installed over 40,000 residential systems throughout Ireland and industrial clients include Intel, Seagate Technology, IBM, FG Wilson and Quinn Group among its clients.
