Sexual assault on Tyrone teenager

Detectives in County Tyrone are investigating a serious sexual assault of a teenage girl late on Friday night or early on Saturday.

The 16-year-old had travelled by bus to attend a nightclub in Strabane. The attack is believed to have happened some time between getting off the bus and before she reached the nightclub.

She had been taken away from the area of Railway Street by three youths. One of the men sexually assaulted her while the other two men held her down.

The girl, who was left deeply traumatised by the ordeal, reached the nightclub where she told people what had happened.

She had been wearing a knee-length floral dress with a black background and broad shoulder straps and had also lost a stiletto shoe before the incident.

Police in Strabane are asking for anyone who may have any information to contact them on: 0845 600 8000, or alternatively on the confidential Crimestoppers number: 0800 555 111.
