Rory McIlroy makes cut at the Open

Rory McIlroy, Northern Ireland’s latest golfing sensation, has made the cut for the final two rounds at the Open in Carnoustie.

The Holywood teenager scored a 68 yesterday however, following a flawless opening round he slipped down the leaderboard as he shot 76 today. The 18-year-old’s second round contained a double bogey, five bogeys and two birdies and leaves him on two over par.

Despite a poor round today McIlroy has made the cut and should also claim the coveted ‘Silver Medal’, which is awarded to the lowest scoring amateur in the competition.
