£2.5m Refurbishment Success For Hotel

Best Western Magherabuoy House Hotel in Portrush has doubled its annual room sales following a £2.5 million expansion and redevelopment backed by Invest Northern Ireland.

The project involved major renovation and extension of the hotel, including a 50 per cent increase in the number of guest bedrooms and redevelopment of the reception area and principal function room.

In addition to the redevelopment, the hotel has been successful in becoming a member property of the Best Western hotel chain.

This has helped to market the hotel internationally, and provided access to a hugely increased customer base.

Leslie Morrison, who recently visited the hotel to see the impact of the investment, said: “With the implementation of the Causeway Coast Masterplan and the attraction of over two million visitors to Northern Ireland each year, there is a clear need for good-quality, modern hotel accommodation on the north coast.”

Trevor Clarke, Director and General Manager of Best Western Magherabuoy House Hotel, said: “Over the last 20 years we have built a strong reputation for our high standards of customer service and hospitality. We realised that, by renovating our accommodation to increase guest capacity and the quality of the rooms, we could further capitalise on the opportunities arising from the buoyant tourism sector in Northern Ireland.

Invest Northern Ireland offered £445,000 towards a total investment of £2,500,000 in the redevelopment of Magherabuoy House Hotel. The project has created over 20 new jobs, bringing total employment to 70.
