Alex Best launches charity fundraiser appeal
Patron of Aids2000, Alex Best, has recently launched this year's Red Ribbon Charity Ball.
The charity fundraising event is to take place at the Stormont Hotel in Belfast on Saturday November 30.
Football legend George Best and his wife Alex have pledged their support for the Aids2000 charity, which aims to raise awareness, offer support and comfort to those infected with HIV in the Province.
Alex Best said: "We were shocked at the level of ignorance of so many people and how little they understood of the disease HIV. The facts are that figures show the HIV infection is rising globally – this includes Northern Ireland."
She said that she was delighted to and honoured to be the patron of Aids2000. Alex said that she and her husband still had strong links with Northern Ireland and would continue to visit the Province to help support the charity and fundraise whenever she could.
Tickets for the charity ball cost £45 each are available from Colin Angus on tel. 028 9188 3356. This includes entrance to the ball, a drinks reception, a goodie bag, and a four course meal followed by entertainment provided by The Big Band Connection.
All money raised by the Aids2000 funds 2Kare Trust at Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital.

Man Charged With Murder And Attempted Murder In Downpatrick
A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following the death of Stephen Brannigan and the serious assault of a priest in Downpatrick on Sunday, 10 August. The body of 56-year-old Mr Brannigan was discovered at a house in the Marian Park area of the town. On the same day, a priest was seriously assaulted at St Patrick's Church.
