Man Remanded On Kidnap Charge

A man has been remanded in custody after being charged with kidnapping a 19-year-old Chinese woman in Belfast last March.

Ciaran Scullion, from Ardmonagh Gardens in the city, was also charged with robbing the woman of £400.

The 27-year-old was also charged with hi-jacking a car and driving while unfit. He is due to appear again by video-link on 27 September.

Elsewhere, the police in north Belfast are warning the public about bogus callers after an incident in the Oldpark area on Wednesday evening.

A woman answered the door to two men who said they were making an electoral check.

But when she asked them for identification they said they did not have any and left.
