Pogues Reunite For 25th Anniversary Show
Shane MacGowan and the Pogues are coming to Belfast's Nugent Hall on December 22 for a special show to celebrate their 25th anniversary.
The Pogues played their first ever gig in London back in October 1982. Their blending of inspired original writing, Irish music tradition and punk attitude, ethos and speed created an exciting new sound with a global appeal and their infamy grew.
Their wild gigs became legendary, while their raw energy combined with evocative lyrics struck a chord with audiences and earned the band a loyal following.
After a rapid rise to stardom in the 1980s, the release of five critically acclaimed albums, and a nearly constant touring schedule, the band began to suffer from the stress and pressure. Founding member and main writer, Shane MacGowan parted company with them in 1991.
However, the band continued on, releasing two additional albums and adjusting to continued changes in line-up. The band finally split in 1996, but reunited in the new millennium.
The Pogues will be playing all their hits, such as 'Fairytale of New York', 'The Irish Rover' and 'Dirty Old Town' in this special show.
Tickets go on sale on September 21 from Virgin and all usual Ticketmaster outlets, priced £27.50. For credit card bookings and information, contact: 0870 2434455 or book online at: www.wonderlandpromotions.co.uk.
