M2 Reopens Following Vehicle Fire

All countrybound lanes of the M2 have re-opened following a vehicle fire.

Smoke from the burning car caused the closure of all lanes between junctions 5 and 6 due to the incident.

It is understood that the car was close to the northbound exit at Junction 6 when the fire broke out.

Minister Condemns Attacks On Fire Crews
Attacks on fire crews place their lives in danger and put communities at risk, said Public Safety Minister Michael McGimpsey today. Condemning a further spate of attacks on firefighters in Dungannon and Londonderry over the weekend, the Minister said it was absolutely unacceptable for anyone to assault emergency workers.

PSNI Appeal Following Fatal Collision In L'Derry
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fatal road traffic in L'Derry on Thursday, 18 April. A woman, aged in her 70s, has died in hospital following a two-car collision on the Limavady Road at approximately 4pm. The collision involved a grey Citroen C3 and blue Alfa Romeo.

Appeal Following Attempted Kidnapping In Belfast City Centre
Three men have been arrested in connection with an attempted kidnapping in Belfast City Centre on Tuesday, 16 April. Police have said that officers were on patrol in the Bruce Street area shortly after 12.05pm when they observed an altercation between a number of men.
