Postal Workers Take Strike Action

Postal workers in Northern Ireland will commence the first of two 48-hour strikes today.

The industrial action is taking place due to a dispute with Royal Mail over pay and changes to the business.

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) said yesterday that negotiations failed to resolve the issue and therefore the planned strike would go ahead.

According to the CWU, employees will walk out for two days from 12noon today until Saturday.

The second 48-hour strike with postal workers walking out on shifts will start between 3am on Monday 8th and 3am Wednesday 10th October.

Royal Mail said that customers should expect "severe disruption" to all postal services throughout the strikes.
