Pizza Blaze: Two Rescued
The cause of a fire at a fast food outlet in Downpatrick at which two people had to be rescued is under investigation.
Three fire appliances attended the blaze at the ground floor of a pizzeria on Scotch Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Station Commander Warren Kerr said two people had to be evacuated from an adjacent flat and an adjoining Chinese restaurant sustained smoke damage.
Mr Kerr said a large number of gas cylinders behind the takeaway were fortunately not involved in the fire.
A fire service specialist Hazmat (hazardous materials) team attended the incident.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the PSNI.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has issued a warning to Self Assessment tax customers of bogus tax refund offers. HMRC has warned that fraudsters could set their sights on Self Assessment customers, with more than 11.5 million submitting a tax return by last month's deadline.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Pat Jennings & NIFRS Issue Fire Safety Warning
Legendary Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pat Jennings has joined the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service to send a message regarding the heightened risk of fire for the over 50s. According to the NIRFS, 87% of deaths from accidental house fires in the last four years were people aged 50 and over.
