Youth Business International conference underway in Belfast

Delegates from around 30 countries are in Belfast for the Youth Business International Conference currently taking place in the Europa Hotel, Belfast.

The three-day conference has been organised by Youth Business International (YBI), a partnership project run by the Prince's Trust and the Prince of Wales International Business Forum.

The conference is part of an initiative by the YBI Trust to address youth unemployment by encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship among young people aged between 18-30 years old.

Each year up to 200 young people in Northern Ireland benefit from support from The Prince’s Trust.

The organisers said that with new businesses in the province showing a higher survival rate than the UK average, Northern Ireland was selected as a conference venue partly as a result of this success in the early part of the year.

The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Alex Maskey, is hosting a reception on Tuesday evening for the international delegates attending the conference.

Around 90 delegates from 15 countries are participating in the three-day conference which ends on Wednesday. Included in the delegates' itinerary are visits to Newry, Armagh, Carrickfergus as well as Belfast.
