Shootings Probed

There have been two shootings – one on either side of the border - over the last few days, most recently when a men and a woman escaped serious injury after shots were fired at a house in Coleraine, County Londonderry.

Two shots were fired into the living room and a bedroom of a house at Ashdale in the Harpur's Hill area on Sunday evening.

One man was cut by broken glass but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

A PSNI spokesman said a motive for the shooting had yet to be established. Detectives in Coleraine have urged witnesses to contact them.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are investigating an unconnected shooting incident that took place in licensed premises on Dublin's Barry Road on Saturday evening.

Two men made their way into the bar and approached a man in the toilets.

One of the men then fired a sawn off shotgun, wounding the 25 year old.

Both men left the scene on foot while the injured man was taken to the city's Mater Hospital.

His condition is not known.
