Road Deaths Hit Seven

The death of a Co Londonderry road crash victim on Tuesday brings to seven the number of people killed on Irish roads inside the last 48 hours.

The man died following a road accident at Legavallon Road near Dungiven at about 7.45am.

He was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry, where he later died.

Police said the road was closed for a follow-up investigation and detectives at Limavady are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

The latest tragedy follows continuing bad news from the Irish Republic that saw three people die in separate road accidents in Dublin, Carlow and Louth.

This latest series of fatal accidents brought the death toll on southern roads to six in 48 hours.
