Construction Industry Output Falls
The key finding from the latest official construction industry survey has shown an 'indexed' drop in output - equivalent to a fall of £21 million compared to the previous year.
According to the Northern Ireland Quarterly Enquiry (QCE) for the period 1 July to 30 September 2007, the Index of Construction is down 3.8 points on the previous quarter.
The Central Survey Unit of the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency published the latest edition of the Northern Ireland Construction Bulletin.
The primary measure of the value of construction output in Northern Ireland (the Index of Construction) is obtained from the Northern Ireland Quarterly Enquiry (QCE).
This is a statutory survey of construction firms is asked to provide details of the value of construction activity they have undertaken in a specified period. The Bulletin provides a measure of the value of construction output in Northern Ireland for the period 1 July to 30 September 2007.

The detailed changes during the three months ending 30 September 2007 are as follows:
The seasonally adjusted Index of Construction was 97.0, down 3.8 points on the previous quarter (100.8) and down 4.1 points on the corresponding quarter in 2006 (101.1).
The estimated seasonally adjusted value of construction output (at 2000 prices) was £538m, a decrease of 3.85% (£21m) on the previous quarter (£559m) and a decrease of 4.1% on the corresponding quarter in 2006 (£561m).

NI Construction Output 'At 2008 Level'
Construction output in Northern Ireland has continued to fall in the largest quarterly decrease in production since 2008. According to recent figures published by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) the total volume of construction output in the second quarter of 2011 fell by 7.0% compared to the first quarter of 2011.
