Bridge Escape Teen Now Stable
The police have appealed for help after an 18-year-old man was left critically ill when he jumped from a footbridge during a fight near Belfast city centre.
It is believed the teenager - whose condition is today said to be more stable - and three friends were on the bridge from Lanyon Place to East Bridge Street when they were approached by four youths.
A struggle ensued and the teen jumped to escape. He fell 20 feet onto the road below, suffering head injuries.
Four 15-year-olds who were questioned by police have since been released.
The incident on the bridge near Central Station happened at about 9.30pm on Saturday.
Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Street station on 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Officer: 'Only Option Was To Shoot'
A police officer has told an inquest he had no option but to shoot when he was confronted with a robber at a petrol station. 29-year-old Marc Alexander Ringland died in hospital after being shot in the chest by the officer. He had carried out the robbery at a petrol station on the Albert bridge Road in east Belfast last February.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland have said the car that was involved in a hit-and-run accident was stolen. The two boys, aged ten and 12, were injured by a hit-and-run driver outside the Central Station in Belfast on January 3.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Body of fisherman found in river
The body of a fisherman has been uncovered from a river close to Londonderry. Patrick Mullan's body was found by a friend on the River Faughan last night. Police said they were not treating his death as suspicious. Mr Mullan, 54, is believed to have fallen from the riverbank at Faughan Bridge shortly after 7.30pm.
