'Sensitive' Documents Discovered In Co Tyrone Outhouse

Documents, some of which belong to the Northern Ireland Court Service, have been found in an outhouse in County Tyrone.

Officers from the serious crime branch are currently examining the documents, which were found by a member of the public near Ballygawley, Co Tyrone.

Some of the records have been described as "sensitive".

Lord Maurice Morrow has urged the Secretary of State to order an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the find.

He said: "It is quite outrageous that documents or files of a confidential nature should appear just like this. It is totally unacceptable.

"The court service and security are non-devolved matters and those are issues for the Northern Ireland Office."

It is understood that some of the documents, found at Todds Lane Road, may be criminal records, some of which are dating back to the 1970s and 80s. However, it is not believed that the documents were stolen.

No one has been arrested.
