Green Light For School Building Schemes

Two school construction projects that had been put on hold because of uncertainties on funding and falling trends in enrolment have now been given the go-ahead.

Assembly Education Minister Caitríona Ruane has now given the green light for the school building schemes at Dean Maguirc College in Carrickmore and at Priory Integrated College in Holywood.

The Minister said: "I am pleased to be able to announce that schemes for new build accommodation at Dean Maguirc College and Priory Integrated College can now proceed.

"Both schools perform an important role within their communities and, following a detailed examination of the issues relating to the schools, I am confident that they can provide a strong education for the future needs of children in their areas.

"This announcement gives both schools a firm foundation on which to build," she said.
