Details Of Violent Death To Emerge Today

More details of an horrific assault will emerge later today when the results of the post mortem examination on the body of murdered shop manager Shaun Fitzpatrick are expected to be released.

The 32-year-old, from Lisnahull Park in Dungannon, was killed in the early hours of Easter Sunday as he made his way home from a night out.

Last night police were still questioning two men, aged 21 and 24, about the murder.

Local cleric, Rev Peter McAnenly said: "It is a real tragedy, not just for the family but for the whole community.

"Dungannon is a good place to live and it is a harmonious neighbourhood."

Mr Fitzpatrick is survived by his parents Bill and Rosemary and siblings Dominic, Damien, Stacey, Gail, Terry and Rory.

Another brother, Bill, was killed in a work accident in 1998.

The victim's father, Bill, accompanied by his sons, faced the grim task of formally identifying his body at a Belfast hospital on Monday.

Commenting, Tom Elliott, Ulster Unionist MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, said: "This is an immense tragedy for the family of Shaun Fitzpatrick and indeed the entire community.

"Incidents like this increase fear within the area.

"Fear of crime is one of the major concerns of the public.

"However, an incident like this turns fear of crime into a reality."
