E-business benefits for Brett Martin

A major investment in new technology is helping Brett Martin further expand its global customer base.

Working in partnership with Sx3, Brett Martin has successfully completed the first phase of its e-business strategy, resulting in the transformation of its internal and external communication systems.

Brett Martin is a key player in a number of major construction projects, including the new City of Manchester Stadium, which hosted the XVII Commonwealth Games this summer.

With a Northern Ireland head office, and sites and customers spread throughout Europe, communication processes and systems have become increasingly crucial to Brett Martin, which employs around 700 people. According to IS Manager, Roger O'Dowd, this meant that the company's history of developing in-house applications to support their business processes was no longer feasible.

He said: "The company, has grown, not only in business terms, but also geographically, so our technology must be capable of delivering processes both internally and externally within a strategic e-business framework. Working closely with Sx3 to implement the latest Microsoft applications we have been able to streamline administration, reduce support costs, and more importantly create a platform upon which we can develop business process solutions to meet market demands."

Leslie Montgomery, account manager with Sx3, said he believed co-operation has been the key to the success of the Brett Martin project. He added: "Sx3's main objective was to implement a comprehensive network infrastructure for Brett Martin which would cut costs and enable the company to phase future development in line with its e-business strategy. This was achieved through effective teamwork and close liaison with staff at the different sites, which helped us determine the specific requirements. We were fully aware of their commitment to customer satisfaction and look forward to supporting Brett Martin in their on-going development work."
