Female Cop Among Injured 999 Crew
Police are this morning at the scene of a Co Down traffic accident while in Co Londonderry, three police officers have been treated in hospital after their patrol car crashed into a road sign.
The accident involving the PSNI vehicle happened near the Culmore Road in Londonderry while they were responding to an emergency '999' call shortly before 5.30am.
Two officers have been released from hospital but a third - a female officer - is still being treated for her injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
No other car was involved in the accident.
Meanwhile police and ambulance crews were this morning attending the scene of a crash at Holywood in County Down.
The Belfast-bound lane of the Bangor Road in Holywood was closed following the incident at 8.30am, which involved two lorries.
Traffic was being diverted after the incident and traffic delayed as a result.

Funding Restored For GCSE Aimed At Improving Road Safety
Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd has reinstated funding to support a GCSE designed to improve road safety. The Minister has agreed to fund a scheme that supports the Motor Vehicle and Road User (MVRUS) GCSE, which targets young people who are sadly over-represented in road traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

Appeal Issued After Newry Burglary And Hit-And-Run Road Crash
Detectives have appealed for information for information following a report of a burglary and hit-and-run road traffic collision in Newry on Sunday morning, 23 June. Police received a report that a white BMW X5 was stolen outside a house in the Dublin Road area of Cloghoge.

'Slow down to save lives' is the key message of Road Safety Week, backed by the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) and the emergency services. The collective call comes as figures reveal that 310 people have been killed or seriously injured on our roads because of speeding in the past five years (2018-2022).
