Airport Reveals Plans For €4bn Business Park

Plans have been revealed for a €4 billion business park at Dublin City Airport - with literally thousands of jobs resulting.

The project, revealed by the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), is aimed at becoming Ireland's "premier location for international business headquarters," targeting the next generation of foreign investment into Ireland.

As many as 30,000 jobs are expected to be created by the development, with up to 2,000 building and fit-out jobs per year created during the construction of the project.

It is understood the business park will be built over 15 to 20 years on a 350 acre site to the east of the existing airport. Nearly 6.5m sq ft of offices and 430,000 sq ft of hotel, retail and conference space will be included.

Speaking at the unveiling of the plans at the Radisson Hotel, Dublin Airport last week, outgoing An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern said: "These exciting plans provide a blueprint for the development of a world class airport city, creating one of Europe's premier airport economic zones for global companies."

The multi-billion euro project will be designed by architect HOK, while CB Richard Ellis will provide the DAA with property advice.

"The clustering of travel intensive businesses at Dublin Airport City will sustain the ongoing development of Dublin Airport," Declan Collier, Chief Executive of DAA said. "Crucially, it will help the airport maintain its status as one of the most competitive airports globally and position Ireland as a key gateway to world economies."
