EDC merges with Black Box Corporation

Local networking specialist, EDC Communications, has announced that it has merged with international technical service giant, Black Box Corporation.

EDC, established in Antrim in 1989 and Dublin in 1997, provides design, supply, installation and maintenance service for structured cabling and related computer networking products to clients throughout Ireland. The company, which currently employs 25 staff, will change its name to Black Box Network Services Northern Ireland and Black Box Services Dublin.

Black Box is the world’s largest technical support company, dedicated to designing, building and maintaining today’s complicated network infrastructure systems. Ireland has now become the 14th country where Black Box offers both telephone and on-site technical support services, alongside the likes of the UK, the USA and Japan.

Damien Lynch, Director of EDC Communications, said: “We believe this merger will greatly enhance the services that we provide to our clients.”

Leslie Fernandes, Group Managing Director of Black Box UK & Ireland, said: “EDC Communications has particularly strong skills in servicing the infrastructure needs of government, health, education and commercial clients all over Ireland – this merger will enable us to offer clients a comprehensive supply and installation service.”
