Teenager In Hospital Following Knife Attack

A teenager is being treated in hospital for serious head and back injuries following an attack in north Belfast at the weekend.

John Joe Russell, aged 18, was stabbed in an attack which took place in Hardcourt Drive in the Oldpark area during the early hours of Saturday morning.

The teenager's step-mother, Elaine Whelan said: "Anybody who goes out intentionally to hurt somebody - please don’t."

She also said she did not want to see another family suffer as a result of knife crime.

Police investigating the incident have said they are particularly keen to speak to two males and a female who were in the area around the time of the attack.

Renewed Appeal For Information On Murder Of Blake Newland
PSNI Major Investigation Team Detectives have renewed an appeal for information one week on from the murder of Blake Newland. The teenager was stabbed multiple times in the Woodland Walk area of Limavady on Friday night, 2 February. Sadly, he later died from his injuries.
