Murder Probe Follows Fatal House Fire

The police have arrested one man and begun a murder inquiry after a 35-year-old man was killed in what is believed to have been an arson attack in Portrush.

The blaze happened at the man's home in Causeway Street at around 6.15am this morning.

The body of the victim was discovered in the premises.

Meanwhile, a fire at a day care centre in Omagh is also being treated as an arson attack.

The fire broke out at the care centre, attended by people with severe learning disabilities, at around 10.45pm last night.

District Commander Feargal Leonard said: "There were signs of forced entry which leads us to the conclusion the fire was started deliberately. We are working with the PSNI to ascertain what actually caused the fire."

No-one is believed to have been injured in the attack.
