Hunt For Pensioner Restarts
The search for a Belfast pensioner who has been missing off the south-west coast of Ireland for three days is due to resume today. Tony Crickard (80), from Norfolk Parade, was last seen in an area close to Dingle in Co Kerry known as Brandon Creek last Friday. Locals in the area have also joined the emergency services in the search for the pensioner. Coastguards based in Shannon, Dingle and Valentia have been searching the coastline since Mr Crickard went missing.
Trains Halted
Rail services were affected by a security alert on the railway line close to Lurgan at the weekend. The security alert was sparked on Sunday, but after the area was searched, nothing suspicious was found. Train services were hit for a period but normal services resumed later.
Supergrass Freed
The Attorney General has backed a plea bargain deal that effectively frees Northern Ireland's first 'supergrass' in decades - released after admitting his role in a pair of horrific murders. Baroness Scotland said she is satisfied with arrangements that saw Mark Burcombe sentenced to 30 months in jail - time he had already served on remand - in return for evidence against another man accused of the murders. But, the families of Andrew Robb and David McIlwaine, the teenagers killed in a horrific knife attack in Tandragee, Co Armagh, eight years ago, are outraged at the sentence.
