Bonfire Teen Severely Burned
A teenager from Londonderry is being treated in hospital for severe burns after an accident at a bonfire in the city's Bogside on Friday. The 16-year-old is in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast with face and neck injuries. His mother said it had been a horrendous experience.
Hospital Car Parking Improves
NI Health Minister Michael McGimpsey is providing £220k for extra car-park spaces at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry. He said that 87 additional spaces will be provided on the hospital site. Speaking during a visit to the hospital Michael McGimpsey said: "This investment at the Daisy Hill Site will give patients and visitors access to more dedicated parking spaces at the hospital, easing the stress of finding somewhere to park and allowing them to arrive on time for appointments during the peak periods of the day." After being shown round the hospital's Renal Unit which is currently being expanded the Minister commented: "I greatly appreciate the high standard of work being carried out by a dedicated team in the Renal Unit and look forward to seeing this expansion work completed with the additional capacity and flexibility for dialysis services that it will provide."
Poleglass 'Kneecapping' Probed
A 20-year-old man has been attacked and shot by two men in Poleglass. The incident happening while he was walking on Ardcaoin Drive at about 1am on Monday morning. The man was taken to hospital with an injury to his left leg after what appears to have been a 'paramilitary-style' incident. Police in Lisburn have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 0845 6008000.
Priest Leaves Ardoyne
The Roman Catholic priest who came to prominence during the dispute at Holy Cross Primary School is to leave his parish in north Belfast. Father Aidan Troy arrived at Holy Cross as rector in July 2001 as the school became the centre of a loyalist protest which made headlines around the world. Fr Troy, who is taking up a new role in Paris, said he was enormously sad to be leaving the Ardoyne.
Driver Remanded
A man has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder a police officer by driving a car at him. Dominic Bond from Rathmore Drive, Rathcoole, Newtownabbey, also faced six driving charges including dangerous driving and driving while under the influence. The incident happened at Doagh Road, Ballyclare on Sunday. At Belfast Magistrates Court, Mr Bond's solicitor said the attempted murder charge was too severe. However, he was remanded in custody until 15 September.
Hospital Patient Death Slammed
The family of a Londonderry woman who died after contracting the C. difficile bug at Altnagelvin hospital has hit out at the way she was treated. Dorothy Wray, from Kimberley Hill in the Waterside, died in February - six months after being admitted to hospital following a fall. Her granddaughter, Joanne, said the hospital did not tell other patients what her grandmother had contracted. A hospital spokesman said patients were moved to single isolation rooms as soon as was possible.

Man Shot In Both Legs In L'Derry
A man in his 30s has been shot several times in the legs in Co L'Derry. The shooting attack happened in the Rinmore Drive area at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, 09 August. The victim was shot in each ankle and once in the thigh. He is currently being treated in hospital, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Funding Announced For Emergency Care At Daisy Hill Hospital
A total of £1.65 million is to be invested to fund emergency care at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry. The money will be used towards transforming and modernising services and also strengthening the workforce, according to the Department of Health.

An investigation has launched after a man was shot multiple times in his legs in L'Derry. The shooting occurred at a house in the Whitethorn Drive area on Thursday, 15 April, just before 11pm. The victim was shot a number of times in his legs after two men forced their way into the house. The man is currently receiving hospital treatment.

Over 1,700 Patients Receiving Ground-Breaking Covid-19 Treatments
More than 1,700 patients at highest risk of serious illness across NI have received ground-breaking Covid-19 treatments. The patients have received neutralising monoclonal antibody (nMAB) and antiviral treatments at Health and Social Care (HSC) Trust Outpatient COVID-19 Treatment services (OCTs), or oral antiviral medicine to take at home.
