Military Homecoming For Council Debate
Belfast City Council will tonight debate a proposed homecoming parade and associated civic reception to mark the armed forces' return from their tour of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Council's Strategic Policy and Resources Committee has already discussed the provision of hospitality for members of the armed forces following the parade to St Anne's Cathedral later this year.

Cancer In Conference
The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF), in association with the Irish Cancer Society, will be hosting an All-Ireland Lymphoma Conference this month. Taking place on Saturday 13th September at the Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast, the conference is aimed at cancer patients, their friends and families, carers and health professionals. Lymphomas are cancers of the lymphatic system, part of the circulatory system. There are two basic types of lymphomas – Hodgkin's lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Approximately 300 people are diagnosed each year in Northern Ireland with a form of lymphoma. Liz Atkinson, Head of Care Services, UCF said, "We are delighted to be hosting this conference which will give cancer patients and their carers practical information about living with lymphoma. We have a wide range of speakers including Jane McClenaghan from Vital Nutrition, who will give specialist advice on diet and nutrition and for those heading off on holiday, Dr Mary Drake and Dr Paul Rooney from Belfast City Hospital will speak about the practical implications of travelling with a cancer diagnosis and how to avoid travel related infections," she explained.
Drugs Case For Court
Charges of the cultivation of a class C drug, possession of a class C drug and possession with intent to supply will be read out today as three men, aged 18, 21 and 24, appear at North Antrim Magistrates Court. The men have each been charged with drugs offences after the seizure of cannabis plants in Country Antrim. Some 30 plants were recovered during the search of a house on Fenaghy Road in Cullybackey on Friday.

New study reveals more people surviving leukaemia and pancreatic cancer in Northern Ireland. The first audit of leukaemia treatment and survival in Northern Ireland by the Cancer Registry (NICR) at Queen’s University Belfast has shown that survival rates for the disease here are at the highest levels since data collection began in 1993.
