Transport Minister Opens £2.8m Lisburn Bus Centre
A new £2.8 million bus centre in Lisburn has been officially opened by NI Transport Minister, Conor Murphy.
The Minister said: "This investment in a new bus centre is a major asset for public transport in Lisburn and local passengers will benefit from a modern fully accessible station which provides better and more comfortable facilities for all.
"I am committed to improving public transport and my key objective in investing in bus services is to encourage more commuters and other travellers out of the car.
"Substantial investment in bus services between 2003-2007 has resulted in nearly 940 new Translink buses, making it one of the most modern, comfortable and reliable fleets in Europe. In addition between 2008-2011 a further £36 million will be invested in buses to ensure these high standards are maintained.
"I would also like to acknowledge the support of the EU Building Sustainable Prosperity Programme which part funded this new facility for the travelling public."
The site is close to the city centre and offers quick access to Bow Street Mall and the surrounding commercial area. A bus lane adjoining the station will increase access and shorten journey times.

Belfast City Centre Bus Lane Scheme Criticised
The SDLP said it is "seriously concerned" after a city centre bus lane scheme in Belfast has left motorists confused. In Great Victoria street, one signpost contains two signs which have led to confusion, however motorists are still being fined.

Translink Bus Strike 'Back On' From 17-23 May
The bus strike "is back on", the GMB Union has announced after their members rejected a revised pay offer. The union has said that drivers, cleaners and shunters across the company will walk out for seven days from 17 to 23 May 2022, "causing the entire bus network to grind to a halt".

New Bus Lanes Cause Rush Hour Delays
New bus lanes in Belfast city centre caused rush hour delays for commuters in cars on Monday morning, when they were put into operation for the first time. They are on May Street, Donegall Square South and Howard Street, and operate between 07:00 until 19:00 , Monday to Saturday.
