Children Suffer In Road Crashes
As a six-year-old girl recovers in hospital following a three-car collision in Co Tyrone last night, it has emerged that the person who died in an accident just across the Irish border was just 16-years-old.
The victim of the accident is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after the crash involving a Rover 25, a Peugeot 106 and a Ford Focus.
The accident occurred at Agharan Road, Dungannon shortly before 8pm on Thursday night.
The child was taken to hospital along with a number of other occupants from the three cars. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Meanwhile, the gardaí are investigating the tragic death of a Donegal teenager - who was driving while underage - in a collision between his car and a van in Co. Donegal.
Officers at Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal are investigating the two vehicle collision, which occurred at Moyle, Newtowncunningham on Thursday night at approximately 9.00pm.
The crash took place on the N13 just outside Newtowncunningham and involved the two vehicles with the 16 year-old male, who was the sole occupant of his car, being fatally injured in the impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and passenger of the van were injured and taken to Letterkenny General Hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The busy N13 remained closed on Friday pending a technical examination by Garda Road Traffic Collision Investigators, leading to significant disruption on the road.
