Give Your Facade A Facelife, Says Armagh Council
Business owners in Armagh have been urged to spruce up their buildings' facade for 2008.
Armagh City and District Council have offered commercial property owners and tenants grant assistance to improve their building facades, and retail frontages, across the city centre.
Grants are available for minor works including painting, signage, lighting, guttering improvements, or more major works such as new shop fronts, and complete façade refurbishments.
Grant is available at a rate of 70% of eligible project costs up to a maximum of £7,000.
'Living Over the Shop' grants are also available in a separate scheme administered by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, said a council spokesman.

A £1.98 million grant has been announced to restore and improve Armagh City's built heritage. Allocated by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the five-year project will see the repair and reuse of up to 30 buildings within the City's conservation area and 3,000 square meters of historic floor space brought back into sustainable use.

New grant schemes for cancer and mental health charities and a Carers Support Fund have been established. The Cancer Charities Support Fund and Mental Health Support Fund will each receive £10million, while £4m has been allocated to the Carers Support Fund.

NI childcare gets £1.3m boost
The New Opportunities Fund today announced £1.3 million worth of lottery grants for a number of childcare projects across Northern Ireland. In the final announcement under the Out of School Hours Childcare grant programme, the National Lottery good cause distributor is awarding the grants to 16 innovative projects creating 1,344 childcare places.
