Second Teen Road Victim Dies

There was further tragedy today with news that the 14-year-old girl critically injured in last night's fatal accident in Co Fermanagh, which claimed the life of a teenage boy, has now died.

The girl had been in a critical condition in hospital but died on Friday morning. Her name has not yet been released by the police.

Fifteen-year-old Nathan Gault, from Florenscourt, died last night after being struck by a car as he was walking home from school with the girl and a third youth when they were hit outside Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh.

Police said the crash happened at 6.30pm yesterday, but are not treating it as a hit-and-run.

The Croaghrim Road in the Florencecourt area was closed after the accident.

It comes just after the funerals of four police officers killed in a horrific smash at the weekend concluded yesterday with Declan Greene buried from St Colman's Church outside Kilkeel.

During Requiem Mass, Constable Greene, 39, was described as "highly respected by all sides of the community".

Father Peter O'Hare said the police officer "lived for his family".

Three other people died in accidents across Northern Ireland during the last week of tragedy.
