Police Appeal After Attempted Newtownabbey Bomb Attack
Police have launched an investigation into a suspected bomb attack in Newtownabbey.
The alarm was raised around midnight last night.
A telephone warning said a pipe bomb had been left outside a house in Fairyknowe Park.
Police secured the area while army technical experts examined the device, which was later described as "viable".
Disposal teams removed the bomb from the scene for further examination.
A police spokesperson said: "A motive for the incident remains under investigation."
Detectives investigating the incident have appealed for information.

TWO elderly Protestant sisters have escaped injury after a petrol bomb attack on their East Belfast home. The women, aged 73 and 79, escaped injury after a passing police patrol discovered a fire at their home and forced their way into the house in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

House Damaged In Petrol Bomb attack
A house in Larne has been damaged in a petrol bomb attack, according to police. It happened on Church Way at around 10.30pm on Wednesday. A man was in the house at the time but was unhurt. Minor damage was caused to the property and a window was smashed. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Four People Released Over Under-Car Bomb Attack In L'Derry
Four people arrested over an attempted under-car bomb attack on a police officer have been released unconditionally. The device was placed under a car in Eglinton, L'Derry, on 18 June 2015. Three men, aged 29, 38 and 46, and a 32-year-old woman were arrested in Belfast, L'Derry an Pomeroy, however they have since been released.
