Tragic Road Toll Rises
Two men have died on the roads in the Irish Republic, and a man has been killed following a road accident in Co Down.
The latest accident happened on the Sandbank Road in Hilltown near Newry on Sunday at about 6.30pm.
It is believed the man who died was in his late teens. Two other people have been taken to hospital following the accident.
Meanwhile, the Irish victims were killed as they were rushing home after reports of burglary in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The pair died in a tragic car collision as they rushed home after hearing reports of a burglary at one of the victim's homes.
John Swords, 22, and Oliver Carney, 21, were travelling to Mr Swords' home in Knocklong, Co Limerick, after leaving the christening of Mr Sword's baby daughter.
According to Gardaí, the two men where killed when the car they were traveling in collided with a wall.
Emergency services were alerted and rushed to the accident, but both men were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies taken to the Mid West Regional Hospital at Limerick.
Gardai at Bruff, Co.Limerick are investigating the fatal collision which is thought to have happened as road conditions were slippery following heavy rain.

Man dies in road accident
A man has died following a road accident in Co Londonderry last night. The 18-year-old man, who has been named as Ryan James Mailey, died after he lost control of his car while driving home along the Highlands Road in Limavady. The accident occurred at around midnight and no other vehicle was involved. Mr Mailey died at the scene.

Number Of Roads Remain Closed Following Storm Ali
A number of roads remain closed across Northern Ireland following the damage caused by Storm Ali. The following roads are still closed, however the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working to clear the obstructions along with its multiagency partners.
