'Back To The Future' For Relaunched Ulster Hall

The newly refurbished Ulster Hall is famous for many events, both political and cultural, and now BBC NI's 'Across The Line' - along with Belfast City Council - is staging a concert called 'Do You Remember The First Time? just to get the new look venue off to a flying start.

With a nod to an earlier concert - in 2001 - where a tribute band marked three decades since the original super group, Led Zeppelin rocked the hall - other leading music names are now to join forces to welcome Belfast's favourite concert venue back into the musical fold.

The big concert follows the example of promoter, Peter Aiken (whose late father Jim brought Led Zeppelin (pictured) to the Ulster Hall in 1971) who staged the anniversary 30-year tribute to mark where they played their world-class rock hit, 'Stairway to Heaven' for the first time

Reflecting that concept, the Ulster Hall relaunch event will officially mark the reopening with present day acts taking their own trip down memory lane, as they play songs from groups they themselves have seen play at the top Belfast venue, as well as their own material.

Among the acts already confirmed are Therapy?, Divine Comedy, Duke Special, Foy Vance, Iain Archer, Jetplane Landing, Fighting With Wire, Lafaro, Cashier No 9, Kowalski and Panama Kings.

The concert, which takes place on Monday 9 March, had nearly sold out, but a limited number of extra tickets are being released for sale today, (Friday).

Tickets cost £5 and are available by calling the Waterfront Hall Box Office on 028 9033 4455.
