UUP MP To Meet Shadow Cabinet

Opposition Leader David Cameron (pictured) has held talks with the Ulster Unionist Party's sole representative at Westminster and suggested Lady Hermon meets with members of the Shadow Cabinet.

Mr Cameron hosted Lady Hermon at a London meeting yesterday, to further progression on a Tory/UUP electoral pact.

The meeting is said to have lasted 45 minutes, and covered 'wide-ranging' issues.

It has been widely reported the North Down MP has reservations over the alliance.

She first met the Conservative leader in November and yesterday's talks were described as a follow-up.

"It has been suggested I meet various members of the Shadow Cabinet, who I will meet in the weeks ahead," said Lady Hermon.

It is believed a meeting between the politician and Shadow Justice Minister Dominic Grieve has been arranged.

Lady Hermon refused to be drawn on the future of the electoral strategy, which some have suggested could see the UUP drop the word Ulster from its name.

"In the absence of recommendations and conclusions from the new UUP-Tory working group - of which I am not a member - I am really in no position to come to a final conclusion on the UUP-Tory link," she said yesterday.
