Jobs Boost At Tesco Coleraine

Supermarket chain Tesco is to create 250 jobs in Coleraine after a multi-million pound redevelopment proposal was approved by the town's council.

As well as creating 250 jobs in a major expansion, the company says it will provide a number of construction jobs in the short-term.

The plan includes a larger on-site replacement of the existing town centre Tesco store.

Gary Mills, Director for Tesco Northern Ireland, said the company carried out an extensive consultation process over the last three years and made a number of amendments to the scheme as a response.

"We have worked closely with the local residents to ensure that they were happy with our plans and have really appreciated all their feedback," he said.

"We would like to assure our neighbours that we will continue to consult with them throughout the construction process and once the new store is up and running."

An additional 268 parking spaces are also being created.
