Anniversary Appeal Over Donegal Murder
An appeal for "vital information" has been launched on the anniversary of the brutal murder of a Northern Ireland man in a Co Donegal border village.
It has been one year since the murder of Andrew Burns from Strabane, Co Tyrone, and Gardai are appealing for anyone who has information, "no matter how insignificant they may think it is", to come forward.
The murder occurred shortly after 7.00pm on the 12th of February last in the village of Donnyloop, Castlefin.
The body of Andrew Burns, 27, was found with gunshot wounds near a church in the normally quiet village.
People attending a youth club had found Mr Burns lying on the road.
The investigation is still on-going and according to Gardaí, "a significant number" of people have already passed on information to the force.
A Gardaí spokesman said: "However, it is believed that some people have not come forward and are in possession of vital information that could help bring the people responsible to justice."
Anybody wishing to contact the investigation team should telephone the incident room at Lifford Garda Station on 074 91 41000 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
