South Belfast House Attack Probed
Policed detectives are investigating a possible sectarian motive after an attack on a house in south Belfast.
A 23-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were in the Rockland Street property off the Donegall Road when a gang of men smashed two windows and damaged a door in an indiscriminate act of violence. A vehicle was also extensively damaged in the incident on Monday evening.
A police spokesperson confirmed that no injuries to the inhabitants have been reported at this stage.
Police are aware that witnesses were in the area at the time of the attack and have appealed for them to come forward with information.
The police have also been probing a separate incident in the same area and say that a fire at a house is being treated as suspicious.
The blaze at the house in Ebor Street was reported at 8.15pm on Monday morning.
While substantial damage was caused to the building, no one was hurt as there wasn't anyone in the property at the time.
A man is being questioning about the incident.
