Families Applaud As Double Killer Is Found Guilty
A court has today found a man guilty of stabbing two teenage friends to death, in a double murder that shocked Northern Ireland nine years ago.
The Co Armagh killings left David McIlwaine - who was just 18 - and Andrew Robb, 19, dead after leaving a disco in February 2000. The victims' bodies were dumped near Tandragee.
Today, Steven Leslie Brown, also known as Steven Revels, 28, of Castle Place, Castlecaulfield, was convicted of the brutal killings, despite having denied involvement.
The judge said they were two of the most serious murders he had dealt with.
Handing down his 93-page judgement, Mr Justice Gillen said that having watched Brown giving evidence, he had "no doubt whatsoever" that he had seen a man "whose hands had been engaged in the executions of these two young victims".
He warned Brown he could be going to jail for the rest of his life.
Brown showed no reaction as the verdict was delivered at Belfast Crown Court on Tuesday but the families of both teenagers applauded the verdicts and wept in the public gallery from where they had witnessed every day of the trial.
