Westmeath Firm Announces 80 Job Losses
A Westmeath meat-processing firm has announced 80 of its workers will be made redundant.
Dunbia, said the redundancies at the Kilbeggan facility were needed to further reduce operating costs.
Dunbia Ireland's general manager Padraig Browne said: "It is with regret that the company have announced 80 redundancies along with proposals to further reduce operating costs.
"The company will now enter into a 30-day consultation process with employees."
The company employs over 2,000 workers in its plants in Maganey in Carlow, Slane, Dungannon and Ballymena.

100 Job Losses At Mivan
Alliance Leader David Ford and Antrim Councillor Neil Kelly have expressed sadness at the news that 100 workers have been made redundant at Mivan. The firm announced it had entered administration last Friday and it is believed the 100 job losses announced have come from across the company.

Truck Firm Redundancy Triggers Strikes
Strike action has this morning begun at a truck maintenance company depot in Ballymun. The union representing workers served notice of industrial action after twenty-three workers at Pullman Fleet Services were informed they were being made redundant because of the loss of a contract with Tesco.
