Film Skills New Entrants Scheme Launched By Four Corners
There's news this week of an innovative eight-month scheme which aims to offer six people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to train for a freelance career in film at assistant level.
The educational charity and a non-profit making company, Four Corners, which raises over 90% of its annual income to provide subsidised training, facilities, and creative opportunities in film and photographic production is behind the scheme.
Applicants can apply to train as camera assistant/clapper loader, assistant editor or production assistant.
The course provides five weeks intensive training and industry induction and includes a portfolio of evidence with training modules offering National Open College Network accreditation at levels II and III.
There are also paid placements up to 20 weeks per trainee across different genres/formats, taking account of job roles/current industry practices.
